What is an Elevator Pitch?
An elevator pitch is a brief, succinct sales pitch. It gets it’s name from the length of time it should take to complete the pitch, about the amount of time it takes to ride several floors in an elevator (30 – 45 seconds). These pitches serve as the conversation starter at networking events and Career Fairs/Expos.
What should I say in an Elevator Pitch?
- Summary about your area of study or career background
- Information about your goals, interests or passion at it may pertain to those you’re pitching to
- Personal information
- Information that contradicts anything in your resume or cover letter
- Information or statements that conflict with the professional or the company you’re pitching to
