The Bison Information Network is the television production organization on the North Dakota State University campus. The BIN television studio and offices are located in Suite 250 of the Memorial Union next to the Spectrum newspaper offices and the KNDS radio studio. The control room/studio are configured for High Definition video production and it was updated this past summer with a state-of-the-art video switcher that provides numerous new capabilities for BIN’s productions. All equipment was paid for by Student Tech Fee funds.
The video editing lab contains sixteen (new in 2021) iMacs with ADOBE Creative Cloud software.
You can watch the live 22 minute BIN News program on campus cable channel 3.1 on Thursday afternoons at 5:00 PM. It can also be seen at various times during the week on channel 3.1. The program is anchored and produced entirely by BIN members. The majority of content is gathered on the university campus.
On Fridays at 11:30 AM BIN produces their sports-talk program “Bison Overtime” with Malik Mitchell and Dash Mentzel.
BIN also partners with NDSU Athletics to provide live-streaming coverage of NDSU women’s home soccer, softball and volleyball events.
There are numerous opportunities for students to learn about television production from how to professionally capture and edit audio and video, to hosting or anchoring a television program. Numerous BIN members have also worked at FM Redhawks baseball, Fargo Force hockey and NDSU Athletics events.
BIN is currently actively seeking new members to help in the production of their weekly newscast, sports show and to cover NDSU softball and volleyball with Athletics. Contact BIN and get involved.
The Bison Information Network invites interested students to contact the General Manager of BIN and schedule a tour of the studio.
