Internship Description
DairyVisor Inc. works with large scale grain and dairy operations providing trading support for their feed, grain, and milk. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of tasks required to perform the duties of a Trading Consultant. The intern program duration is for 8-9 weeks. Students in their junior or senior year will be considered as an intern candidate.
Primary Work Activities
- Travel with Company staff in the sales process and assist in preparation of sales presentations.
- Work with clients to establish cost of production risk profiles of their business.
- Assist with the preparation of formal market plans for clients.
- Assist in monitoring feed and grain prices for trading activity.
- Assist in data input and technical support for DVMargin users.
- Assist DairyVisor analysts with performing market research.
- Shadow traders and assist with trading activities.
- At the end of the internship the intern will be expected to put together and present a formal market plan for a grain or dairy producer.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Knowledge of futures, options, and cash trading strategies.
- Driven, independent, self-starter.
- Strong financial concept understanding, mathematical, analytical skills.
- Ability to work with and understand financial statements, enterprise analysis, and rations.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel related tasks.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Able to work in high demand/stress environment.
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientated.
- Function independently in a team player atmosphere.
- Service oriented with a passion to help dairy producers succeed.
- Having a good understanding of the dairy industry and a primary focus in educational experiences is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Working towards a degree in Ag Business, Ag Economics, Dairy Management, or Grain/Livestock Merchandising.
- Education coursework in grain or livestock marketing utilizing futures, options, and cash contracts.
- Having a solid agricultural background is highly desirable.
Compensation
This is a paid internship with compensation dependent on the candidate’s knowledge and experiences.
