Raised in Chanhassen, Minnesota, Ben is currently a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management with minors in Business Administration and Community Development. With proper preparation, he aspires to enter a career in healthcare or private sector emergency management/business continuity and work part-time as a Firefighter/EMT. As a Career Mentor, Ben’s primary interests involve resume and cover letter reviews, career and major exploration, and connecting students with helpful resources. When he isn’t in the Career Studio or working on academics, Ben enjoys volunteering as a Firefighter/EMT, jamming to Prince music, talking to friends, and drinking copious amounts of coffee.
Katie is a junior from Alexandria, Minnesota majoring in Architecture with a minor in Business Administration. As both a Resident Assistant (RA) and a Career Mentor, she loves working with students and helping them grow both personally and professionally in pursuit of their goals. Whether it’s a resume and cover letter in need of improvement, some interview practice, tweaking your LinkedIn profile, or kick starting your job search, Katie can’t wait to help you prepare for your future. When she’s not in the office or designing in studio, Katie enjoys exploring the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Emma is an undergraduate at North Dakota State University. She is majoring in English with a minor in Strategic communication. Her interest in this field bloomed when she was younger and fell in love with the Magic Tree House novels. She felt so much love for these books, and she wanted to spread that passion. This is her third year at NDSU, and she currently balances two jobs on campus. Her current goal is to graduate NDSU in one year and find a career as a publicist or literary agent. When not in school, Emma lives in her hometown Shakopee, MN with her family and three cats. However, she hopes to find a job in Minneapolis or larger city farther away from home. She currently has no published work but hopes to one day. In her free time, Emma loves to write, play Animal Crossing, bake, rock climb, and listen to Hamilton.
Abby is a senior from Maple Grove, MN studying Strategic Communication with a minor in Sociology. In her work at the Career and Advising Center, she enjoys helping students and alumni with resumes, cover letters, refining LinkedIn profiles, and more. Abby’s goal within her career is to work in digital marketing. When she isn’t in the office, you can find her writing, playing with her dog, watching basketball, and staying inside during the winter.
Sophie Semanko is majoring in Interior Design with a minor in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Born and raised in Fargo, Sophie originally decided to move away for college to Milwaukee, Wisconsin but then realized NDSU was where she belonged. On campus Sophie is involved with Tri Delta, the American Society of Interior Designers, Lutheran Student Fellowship, and Order of Omega. Sophie loves to help her peers with any career questions or needs they have. Whether it be checking over a resume, reviewing a cover letter, searching for internships, or holding a mock interview, Sophie is ready to listen and work with you as you prepare for your future!
Tanner is from St. Francis, Minnesota. He is currently a sophomore here at NDSU double majoring in Health and Physical Education with goals of being a teacher in the future. He is excited to help students with their career questions so they can continue to strive for their goals. When not working at the Career and Advising Center, Tanner is balancing his studies, two other jobs, and enjoying free time. In the free time he does have he is most likely running/working out, doing something outdoors, learning a new skill (currently swimming), watching movies, or hanging out with family and friends.
Cody is currently a sophomore here at NDSU and is majoring in Industrial Engineering & Management. He grew up in Wayzata, Minnesota and enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching shows and movies, listening to music & podcasts on Spotify, and participating in student organizations on campus. As a Career Mentor, Cody assists students with resumes and any other career related documents, answers the phone, helps students find/apply for jobs and internships, and much more. His favorite part about being a Career Mentor is interacting and making connections with new people and helping them reach their career aspirations.
Brianna is a senior from Jordan, Minnesota majoring in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Biomedical Science. She hopes to go to Medical School in the future. When not working at the Career and Advising Center helping students with resumes, cover letters, and more, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and watching movies. She is also involved in multiple clubs and has on and off-campus commitments. She is very excited to continue working with everyone this semester!
