Why did you choose the company that you work for?

I chose this company because it seems like a viable career, and the people I’ve met that work there have been there for many years and like it.

What were some of the requirements for your internship?

I am automating certain parts of our policy processing system. Also, one of my tasks at the end of the internship is to give a presentation to the directors about what I’ve accomplished over the summer. For NDSU, I need to write a 10-page paper summarizing my experience over the summer as well.

• What is your favorite part about your internship experience?

I enjoy the fact that I get to work with great people and actually apply ideas from class to production.

• What is the most challenging part of your internship? How have you overcome these obstacles?

The most challenging part of my internship so far is having the courage to ask questions about concepts I do not understand. I have overcome this by spending more time building trusting relationships that I can rely on.

• How did you find your internship?

Through the MIS Club Career Speaker

• Why was it beneficial for you to register for credit(s) through the Internship Program offered through the Career and Advising Center?

It was beneficial for me to fulfill credits toward graduation.

• What advice would you give a student who is in the process of searching and applying for an internship?

Look early and don’t be afraid to reach out to recruiters at career fairs, LinkedIn, and job recruiting.
