- Why did you choose the company that you work for?
- I have worked for them in the past in other student-worker positions, and this opportunity allowed me to get a deeper idea into the world of higher education and if it would be something I would want to continue with post-graduation. I also liked all the opportunities and skills that I would be engaging with and learning through this organization.
- What were some of the requirements for your internship?
- Some of the bigger requirements and tasks for this internship have been meeting with and being able to answer student’s and parent’s questions as they transition from high school to college, meet with high schools and work with their professional staff, and present to audiences of all sizes with information about NDSU.
- What is your favorite part about your internship experience?
- My favorite part of this experience has been being able to connect with students and help them navigate their next steps post-high school graduation. Being able to answer the questions, alleviate their concerns, and provide my own experiences to them have also been very rewarding in the connections I have made with students.
- What is the most challenging part of your internship? How have you overcome these obstacles?
- I think the most challenging part of this internship was out of everyone’s control as it stems from the pandemic we are currently living in. Originally, I was supposed to be out on the road and traveling for a majority of this position, but obviously that had to be adjusted. I’ve been able to handle this by meeting with my supervisors on figuring out how to adapt and also keeping an open-mind in knowing that this is a new situation for everyone.

- Why was it beneficial for you to register for credit(s) through the Internship Program offered through the Career and Advising Center?
- Registering through the Internship Program offered through the Career and Advising Center was beneficial to me because I was able to earn credit to maintain full-time student status. Maintaining this status was helpful for financial aid purposes.
- What advice would you give a student who is in the process of applying to an internship?
- My advice would be to talk to working professionals in your life that you already know to see if they can help connect you to opportunities, and to always give them a try if you’re able to. Even if it affects when you graduate, these opportunities are valuable in that you learn on-the-job experiences that can help prepare you for when you enter into your own career as an individual.
