When to add a course alert

Instructors have the ability to enter an alert at any point in the semester. It might be helpful to pay close attention to your students’ progress during certain times of the semester. The following are some suggestions.

• First two weeks of the semester – pay attention to attendance in-class and blackboard access online
• First four weeks of the semester – is there anyone who hasn’t submitted anything yet?
• After first exam – can you suggest tutoring resources for students who earned a D or F?
• After any exam – pay special attention to anyone who’s test scores dropped significantly since the previous test
• Week 8 of the semester – you will be asked to submit mid-term grades – who is struggling?
• Before final day to drop classes – are there students who need outreach to be advised to potentially drop the class
