The Peaches and Cream Foundation is a national nonprofit dedicated to promoting global understanding, mental wellness, and community empowerment. Our mission is to foster dialogue, collaboration, and support across diverse cultures and backgrounds — with a special focus on youth, underserved families, and military‑connected communities.
As a Journalist Intern, you will help document the stories, voices, and everyday experiences that shape our work and impact. You’ll have the freedom to pitch stories you care about, explore topics that matter to you, and use your creativity to produce meaningful journalism that connects with audiences nationwide and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting, Writing & Investigating
- Research, investigate, and pitch news stories connected to our mission
- Write and edit articles, reports, features, and digital content
- Cover topics such as mental health, youth and college issues, military families, veterans, nonprofits, community needs, business issues, sports and wellness, public policy, and everyday real‑life issues
Interviewing
- Conduct interviews with business leaders, policymakers, educators, mental health experts, medical professionals, sports organizations, veterans, military families, nonprofit partners, and community members
- Gather quotes, testimonies, and firsthand accounts for publication
- Research and connect with professionals and organizations whose work relates to mental health, wellness, and community development
Field & Event Coverage
- Attend and report on events, programs, press conferences, community meetings, and special initiatives
- Cover stories as if reporting for a professional newsroom or broadcast outlet
Broadcast‑Style Journalism
- Create on‑camera or audio segments
- Record interviews, event coverage, and stand‑ups similar to news reporting
- Assist with multimedia storytelling for social media and digital platforms
Fact‑Checking & Ethics
- Verify information, data, and statements from multiple sources
- Uphold ethical, accurate, and inclusive journalistic standards
Multimedia Production
- Capture photos, record video/audio, and use digital tools to enhance stories
- Support content creation for social media, newsletters, and online platforms
Networking & Outreach
- Build relationships with sources, community leaders, and organizations
- Assist in outreach to national and international media outlets, journalists, and newsrooms
- Help expand the foundation’s storytelling reach across the country and beyond
Ideal Candidate
- Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Media, English, or a related field
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Portfolio of published or unpublished writing samples (articles, blogs, essays, or media pieces)
- Basic skills in photography, video, or audio editing
- Comfortable interviewing others and asking thoughtful questions
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Flexible, adaptable, committed, and eager to learn
- Creative and excited to pitch story ideas they care about

Time Commitment
- Approximately 10 hours per week (or less, depending on academic requirements)

- Students may continue as volunteers or extended interns after completion
