Staff Accountant
American National has two full-time accounting positions available for candidates who are either looking to break into the industry or who already have accounting skills and seeking to expand their knowledge. Candidates will be assessed for both openings (Associate Accountant and Staff Accountant levels) based upon demonstrated qualifications. If you currently have experience with accounts payable, journal entries, reconciliations, and seeking a more challenging role that includes compliance functions or if you just graduated with your degree in accounting/finance, we have a position for you.

Onsite Placement Locations: League City, Texas
How you will make an impact:
• You will be responsible for the accurate and timely filing of state insurance fees and assessments
• Review invoices for accuracy and make required payments using various methods
• Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of account balances
• Respond to state assessment notices
• Maintain/monitor payment calendar
• Collaborate and support Legal Compliance team to ensure assessments are paid timely
• Assist in preparing insurance premium tax returns
• Assist in reviewing unclaimed property filings and account reconciliations as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Accounting
• Work experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and compliance related functions, preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to thrive under required deadlines
• SAP & Coupa system knowledge is beneficial
• Ability to work hours outside of normal business operations during peak periods (Typically, January-March annually)
