#NDSUintern Spotlight: Madison Vincent

Major: Business Analytics

Company: Red River Commodities

Internship Title: Data Quality and Digital Asset Intern

Location: Fargo, ND

Semester: Summer 2026

Why did you choose the company you work for?

I chose Red River Commodities to gain real-world experience working with data and technology in a business environment. As a business analytics student, I was able to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom while also learning how data is used to support business operations.

What were some required tasks for your internship?

My project for this internship was setting up a new CRM system for the company. My main responsibilities were cleaning and organizing product data, checking for errors, updating product information, and organizing digital files.

What is your favorite part about your internship experience?

My favorite part of my internship has been the company culture and the people I work with. Everyone has been welcoming, supportive, and willing to help, which made it easy to learn and feel comfortable asking questions.

What is the most challenging part of your internship? How have you overcome these obstacles?

The most challenging part has been validating data and finding the correct information when there are inconsistencies or missing details. I’ve overcome this by double-checking information, researching different sources, and reaching out to coworkers when I needed clarification.

How did you find your internship?

I found my internship through LinkedIn. I searched for opportunities related to business analytics and found the Red River Commodities internship. After applying, I also reached out to hiring managers through LinkedIn to express my interest and help make my application stand out.

Why was it beneficial for you to register for academic credit through the Internship Program offered through the Career and Advising Center?

Registering for internship credits was beneficial because it allowed me to earn credits toward my degree while gaining real-world experience. It also helped me connect what I’m learning in school to the work I was doing during my internship.

What advice would you give a student who is in the process of searching and applying for an internship?

I would recommend starting your search early. What helped me the most was being open to different opportunities and finding a position that matched my interests and what I wanted to learn.
