Why did you choose the company you work for?

I chose to intern at Mainstream Boutique because of the two amazing women that own it and because they have cute clothes.

What were some requirements for your internship?

  • Visual Merchandising
  • Running the store myself
  • Social Media posts
  • Inventory

What is your favorite part about your internship experience?

My favorite part of my internship experience was meeting new people, getting to learn everyday, and live new experiences.

What is the most challenging part of your internship? How have you overcome these obstacles?

The most challenging part of my internship was definitely finding my confidence in a new space as quickly as I had to. I overcame my struggles by doing things that scared me like rejection so that entailed not letting it bother me when people say no or don’t like my ideas. I also had to fake it until I made it so even if I was not sure what I was doing, I made it sound like I was ten toes down behind what I had to say/suggest.

How did you find your internship?

Through self-guided research, this included looking at stores near me and cold calling to see if they were willing to take an intern for the summer.

Why was it beneficial for you to register for academic credit through the Internship Program offered through the Career and Advising Center?

It allowed me to earn credits towards graduation.

What advice would you give a student who is in the process of searching and applying for an internship?

My advice to others who are trying to get an internship is to be yourself 100% and don’t be afraid to do things you are unsure of!
