Mentoring Relationships: What are the benefits?

The next topic in our mentoring series is: What are the benefits to having a mentor? The really short answer is that, like many things, you get out of it what you put into it.

While the benefits of mentoring may change as your relationship grows, some of the benefits can include:

  • Establishing a network in your industry.
  • Connecting to future company you may work for.
  • Skill and experience building and awareness of what you have or have yet to develop.
  • Developing professionally!

Starting a purposeful conversation with your mentor can lead to the creation of achievable goals, experiences you could seek out to build transferable skills, as well as additional insight into what your daily work would actually look like on the job. To get more information on each of the above mentioned areas and to learn more about other mentoring relationship strategies, visit our Mentoring Relationships page. Keep an eye on our blog and social media posts in the next couple of weeks for more on this topic!
