Welcome back! At the Career Center, we are happy to have the students back on campus, but break sure flew by. We also know how quickly the first few weeks of the semester can fly by, too.
The Spring Career Expo is already less than a month away, so we want to help you prepare. Here are some suggestions on what to brush up on before the Expo arrives:
- Resumes: At the Career Center, we can help you to perfect your document by creating bullet points and content that is relevant to the employers you will be speaking with at the Expo.
- Elevator Pitch: Need some help knowing what to say when you approach an employer at the Expo? We can talk through some samples with you and we are even hosting an event for you to try out the pitch before the Expo. Log onto your CAREERlink account and see more information at “Pitch Perfect: No resume, no cover letter, no problem” under the “Events” tab.
- Interviewing techniques: We can help prepare you for specific interview questions or put you through a “mock” or sample interview scenario. We will tailor questions to be specific to the industry you are hoping to get into or even tailor them to what the specific employer is likely to ask.
- Navigating the Expo: The Expos are large events, and this year we are expecting more employers at the Fargodome than in years past! We are here to tell you what to expect and how to make the most out of this networking opportunity.
Drop-in and see us, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, in Ceres Hall 306 or stop by our satellite locations for more convenience! No appointment necessary, but you are welcome to call us at 701-231-7111 and set up a meeting if it’s more convenient for you. We’ll see you at the Expos!
